The Surprising Benefit Provided By Direct Line House Insurance

I was speaking with my sister in law, Jana, last evening and she brought up the fact that she had experienced a bit of an epiphany while deliberating whether to get cover for buildings, contents or both with Direct Line house insurance. While this statement struck me as curious, it did not necessarily sound like something that would prove to be all that interesting to me personally.

As a bit of background, I should probably tell you that she and my brother do not have children, and have thus had a nice amount of money to invest in properties. In addition, they have become collectors of some rather expensive artworks and furnishings. Therefore, I thought this route of conversation might involve things that I am not privy to, as our money seems to evaporate upon receipt. But, I have definitely monopolised numerous other calls with topics that must not even remotely interest her, and could easily accept that she deserved the same time to cover what she would like to chat about.

Due to their financial strength and savvy investments, I have always gotten the impression that they would be the one’s to offer us advice, and not the other way around. Never have they inquired of us about how something should be done, or handled. But this is where it gets interesting. While Jana was completing the home contents list, and working with the home contents calculator on the site she realised that they’re living amongst clutter. Bingo, this is when she thought of me.

First off, I must admit to feeling utter relief once I realised she would not be asking me for any guidance on selecting insurance. Though I could offer up my own opinions on such, I would much prefer offering up assistance in my area of expertise, the actual home itself. Secondly, Jana and I often struggle to find things to talk about that interest both of us, and then poof here was one, excellent.

I asked her to send me a copy of the contents lists she had made for the insurance company, and advised that I would read through and analyse how to approach pairing things down. Then we would get together to discuss my ideas, and come up with a plan of action. To be totally honest, I felt really good about being able to help out, and to share my skills and strengths. Love how it took house insurance to bring us closer together. I can barely wait to break down that clutter, and show her the results she is seeking. Look out clutter here I come.
