The Emergency Kit Everyone Should Have in Their Home

by admin on October 7th, 2011

Everyone should have an emergency supply kit. You might respond by saying that you do not live anywhere near a fault line, hurricanes are unheard of, you have the wrong conditions for tornadoes, and a tsunami is literally impossible. Ok, so the most common things that people might make an emergency kit might not be your concern, but things do happen that are unexpected too.

So, the kit, which again I will state EVERYONE should have the following (with some additions for areas facing known disasters or problems. In addition, every member of the household should know where it is kept.

3 gallons of water per person

(This will be for both drinking and sanitation, and is meant to last three days.)

3 Day supply of non- perishable food items

1 Can opener

Battery powered radio (with extra batteries)

First Aid kit

1 dust mask for each person

1 packet of moist wipes per person

1 large flashlight (with extra batteries)

1 small flashlight (with extra batteries)

Multiple candles and matches
